Sometimes there are days that I don’t feel like blogging and stuff. Most of the time it’s because I want to sit in bed and watch box sets, but that’s another issue. There is this fear that I just don’t know how to do what I want to do. I mean, the fear gets so great that I feel catatonic, locked inside myself, locked in fear of not knowing what my next move is. This blockage stops me from achieving my end goal and ‘be’ the person that I want to be. So how can I motivate myself to be the best I can be the best I can be? Below is a list of 5 motivation tips I found on the internet.
Make a deal with yourself
This tip is good when you are procrastinating. The idea is to give yourself a reward, a little gift for doing the task. i.e. when I have finished this page, written this report researched for my blog, I will pour myself a glass of wine, watch an episode of my fave show on Netflix or have a long bath (now you know this can work for me).
Make sure you set yourself large goals making sure they are specific. Then break them down into more manageable chunks. This way you can get excited about your goal, but you will be able to work on the smaller tasks within the goal.
Do something small to create the flow
Ok so you have a load of stuff to do, where do you start. Well if I were going to clean the house, I usually start with cleaning the dishes, it is a usually small thing, but it gets me in the flow!!!. This idea helps you to start, so if you have a lot to do, do the simple small thing and go from there. It will get your juices flowing!!!
Remember above I said to identify the big goals and then look at the task that makes up the goal. This will slow you down and you will feel less overwhelmed.
Don’t compare yourself with others.
Comparing yourself and your accomplishments with others will kill your motivation. People will always be further on than you and some people will seem to have started after you, and suddenly seem ahead of you. The key is to look at your own achievements, compete against yourself. Look at where you were, where you are now and where you are going. Focusing on you and your goal will bring you the results you are looking for. So go…stop reading this and research, plan, blog…whatever…just go and do something that will move you closer to your goals.
